IDW Comics come to Xbox One, Windows 10/Mobile

I spent some time recently checking out the new IDW app for Xbox One, which is also available on Windows 10 and Windows Mobile through the App store. It’s a simple interface, easy to use and lots of great comics available to purchase and read.

I first tested on my Windows Phone, a Lumia 950xl, and it worked great right out the gate. When viewing comics you can easily zoon in or fit to screen. This is a market that has been missed in the area of digital comics and we hope Comixology takes note.

Likewise, the Xbox one app and Windows 10 app work in the same manor. On my Xbox one it scales beautifully to my 65” 4K TV. I see some real opportunity hear for teachers and parents who would like to read to their kids help encourage them to read.

The app is backed and produced by Madefire, who also have their own app with a larger catalog from other publishers and your login works on both apps. Thank You, IDW and Madefire for bringing us digital comics to the devices we have been waiting to get support.

While at Wonder Con, I did ask Comixology about supporting these platforms and they skirted the question, as skillfully as a politician, citing business decisions and market. Certainly, if IDW and Madefire can do, Comixology can to- but will they?

In the meantime, go forth and read some great comics.
