Comic Con Update: Ghost Rider to Join the Cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

News out of comic con. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (on ABC) will be adding Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider to their cast.

The teaser is here and is scant on details but it confirms the rumour that has been going around for the last couple of months. More details followed confirming  that the Robbie Reyes version of the character will appear and be played by Gabriel Luna. For those of you unfamiliar with Ghost Rider and had the good fortune to miss the Nic Cage movies, Ghost Rider is a spirit of vengeance who can transform into a skull headed demon with mystical powers and a sick ride. Over the years Marvel has had three Ghost Riders, Johnny Blaze, Daniel Ketch and most recently Robbie Reyes and each have kept true to the basic concept of the bad-ass semi-demonic anti-hero who mete out vengeance rather than justice.

Ghost Rider is Headed to 'Agents

While “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” in its three seasons has shown us a lot of facets of the greater Marvel Universe breezed over by the movies (such as carrying on the Hydra plot from “Winter Soldier” and getting us a look at the Inhumans), the addition of Ghost Rider is a bit of a surprise as the show has thus far focused on super-science and aliens than the supernatural. So when the show returns on September 20th it will should be interesting to see how they blend Ghost Rider into the plots left unresolved from the third season finale.

Anyhow that’s all for tonight but keep your eyes on 2 Shots of Geek for more SDCC updates!
