Devil Proofed!

I don’t really know what that has to do with burning media on discs but I will tell you that in this age of MP3s, flash memory, peer to peer sharing and hell even social media it been a very long time since I’ve had to burn a disc.

That being said I felt a bit dated when I took a swing at CDRWIN-8 by Engelmann Media. The program claims to be more user friendly that Nero or Roxio, two very prominent titles in the multimedia burning realm. The copy I attacked was a free demo version.

As you can see, the main menu is very simple. Which can go 2 ways, while it is absolutely perfect for the general consumer. You can do all your basic media formats with mild editing options and so on and so on. It does what you need it to do and what you want it to do without ridiculous amounts of submenus….but it just seemed so dated to me. The overall look and feel of the program reminded me of a 1998 era cd burning program. Which might be okay for some, but I like shiny things.

9 shots out of 10 for ease of use. 5 out of 10 for late-90’s design
