When IDW comics first announced Transformers: Autocracy as a bi-monthly ( or every two weeks) digital comics series; I had my reservations. For one I have a fondness of holding comics in my hand as well as collecting them. Digital is more convenient in many ways, still I held back and waited.
Autocracy is a 12 part series, with each issue running 8 pages. It’s a story that has been scarcely told only a few times. The story of Orion Pax and Megatron before the great war. Yet Autocracy goes further and explorers the politics that brought Orion Pax and Megatron together. Since January 8 issues have told this story and we are now at what appears to be the climax of the story in the next issue due on May 9th. I can’t wait to read it!
With the story thus far, it is captivating and edgy where it needs to be. It brings us a picture picture of the Transformers universe through the backstory of some of our favorite characters. The artwork fits this dark time in Cybertronian history. I think this is another hit for IDW and Transformers. And at 99¢ an issue its worth while to fire up that Comixology app and start reading.
