Injustice: Gods Among Us Comic Issue 21 Review

Injustice Insert 11Magical number 21! It amazes me how long this series has gone, and I don’t see any signs of it stopping any time soon. There seems to be very small plot progression in each issue, but the $1 price tag makes it easy to bear. In this issue the war really begins, and we get another look at the lengths Wonder Woman is willing to go for her view of justice.

The beginning of the issue has Wonder Woman going to Mogadishu to stop the country’s own army from oppressing a group of women. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, it’s getting real here. Wonder Woman makes an example of an evil soldier, and gives the power back to the women who are being oppressed. Quite literally. It is a bit hard to read, and you really wonder if Diana’s view is truly unbiased, which I think it isn’t.

Back at home, Batman is starting his attacks on Superman and his allies. I’m happy we finally see Hawkgirl, but she doesn’t do much before she is taken down. Still, this just serves as a method of starting this war. We also have something interesting: Superman can’t match wits with Batman, but what happens when Lex Luthor teams with Supes against Batman? That battle begins in this issue, and I’m really intrigued as to how it will go. I think a Superman backed by a Lex Luthor should be unstoppable, but we do remember Infinity Crisis so…we’ll see.
