It’s a little late coming, but better late than never. We go to quite a few cons here at 2 Shots of Geek, recently having attended AWA and Eurogamer Expo. We don’t get the chance to hit every con, but we want to tell support local cons when we can. Having said that, events like San Diego Comic-Con aren’t the only things going on. There are other, very intimate conventions going on everywhere, and San Diego Comic Fest is one such event. Taking place from today, October 4, to October 6 at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego, it’s something you should take a look at to indulge your inner geek.
I have been to several cons of different sizes in my time, and I’ve found that cons that aren’t one of the “majors” have the advantage of being a lot more intimate, full of cosplayers and lots of friends to be made. San Diego Comic Fest looks to be in this category of con, and it’s a breath of fresh air after going to San Diego Comic-Con this summer. There are so many things going on at SD Comic Fest that I can’t name them all here. I will say though that there are many great exhibitors, including IDW, lots of different panels throughout the three days, a Masked Ball on Saturday night at 9PM, and several special guests such as Larry Niven. If you have a chance, we suggest stopping by SD Comic Fest to see all the geekness unfold. A three day pass will only set you back $50, and there are one day passes available for less.
