Transformers: Windblade from IDW Publishing will be hitting Comic Book stands April 16th. To state that the character, Windblade, herself is unique is an understatement. She is the first fan built Transformer thanks to Hasbro giving us the ability to vote via polls online to decide on her physical and character traits. Reading through this first issue you’ll see she is indeed intriguing and well, we will get to that below. Windblade mini-series is also the first Transformers comic to be assembled (I didn’t want to over play the pun, by saying ‘transformed’ ) by an all female creative team. Keep reading for more.
Dare I say, Windblade has no idea what’s going on with Cybertron as her story opens up after Dark Cybertron and leads into the Dawn of The Autobots. Windblade is well a mystery to most and likewise Cybertron and the long drawn out war is a mystery to her. He really don’t learn much about her in the first issue other than her role as caretaker for one of the mightiest and biggest Autobots; sorry not dropping that spoiler.
Things are messed up on Cybertron and we gather she is a curious bot. She is a character I want to get to know, learn her story and see what happens next. I know, I know, I’m not saying much on that because, well, you should read the comic and see for yourself.
In regards to the comic, we get the artwork that stands out and fits so perfectly. IDW has a track record of being awesome in this department. The story is well written and enjoyable. It gives you enough to keep you reading, yet longing for the next issue. Seriously, What happens next? It is a well produced comic all around, even the speech bubbles stand out as expertly placed. I’m hooked and it’s only the first issue.
Dawn of the Autobots is soon to be fully upon us and it is looking to be shockingly good. If you’ve read through Dark Cybertron you know. Seriously, Megatron did that! Oh, the joy of good comics. Be sure to check back often for more great content as we move into Convention Season!
