Star Trek/ Green Lantern Crossover #1 Review

ST-GL01-coverD-SUBWe have seen some pretty amazing comic book crossovers in the past, but I don’t think many of us ever thought we would see this. IDW and DC Comics have partnered to bring us Star Trek/Green Lantern: The Spectrum Wars #1 and is listed as the crossover event of 2015. Oh, and where better to launch this series than San Diego Comic Con! Keep reading for my review.

Angel Hernandez did an amazing job on the art. The details are there when needed and it literally feels like I’m looking at two worlds coming together. The colors by Alejandro Sanchez are solid, bright when appropriate and still dark (we are in space here). Neil Uyetake’s letters are also well done. Artistically speaking, this issue looks great.

Mike Johnson’s writing is bringing it all together. We have a beginning of a story that doesST-GL01-coverA what is needed and then leaves you hanging, waiting, wanting more. We see hints of a dark story developing, but also some mystery. It feels right and is easy to read while introducing us to both sides in well fell swoop.

I could continue writing of this issue, but it would be difficult without spoiling the story. I’ll end by saying, if you are a fan either series pick it up. If you are not a fan of either, give it shot. When Kirk meets Jordan; that moment seals it, I’m hooked. I can’t wait for the next issue.
